Care & Maintenance
Care and Maintenance
Wear last and take off first: Wait until your skincare/makeup/perfume is completely dry before wearing. Remove your jewelry before removing makeup and showering.
Keep away from water and chemicals: Remove your jewelry when swimming (including seawater/chlorinated water), soaking in hot springs, bathing, sweating during exercise, cleaning, or wearing perfume/hairspray/sunscreen.
Avoid friction/drops: Keep away from keys, coins, stone countertops, etc.; do not wear when sleeping or working out.
Wipe after each wear: Gently wipe away sweat and sebum with a clean, soft microfiber cloth.
Store separately to protect from moisture: Store in a dry, sealed bag or in a separate compartment of a jewelry box with anti-oxidation sheets/desiccant. Keep away from bathroom moisture and sunlight.
Caring for Different Materials
Gold Plating (18K Electroplating/Vermeil/PVD, etc.)
Avoid contact with hard objects, perfume, and alcohol-based/acidic/alkaline cleaning agents.
Cleaning: Use warm water and a small amount of neutral hand soap, gently wipe with a soft cloth or brush, rinse quickly, and dry thoroughly.
Abrasive polishing pastes or silver cloths are not recommended (they can thin the plating), and ultrasonic treatment is not recommended.
Tip: Frequent wearers can have professional re-plating every 3–12 months to maintain a new, bright appearance.
Pure gold (14k/18k) and stainless steel
Stable and durable; daily wiping with a soft cloth is sufficient.
Pure gold can be cleaned with mild soap and water; stainless steel is sweat- and water-resistant, but the plated surface should still be protected from abrasive chemicals.
Ultrasonic treatment is generally suitable for plain gold pieces (use caution with gemstones).
925 sterling silver (Sterling Silver)
Sensitively reacts with sulfides in the air, turning yellow or black. Store in a dry, sealed container and wear regularly to slow discoloration.
Cleaning: Gently wipe with a silver cloth (do not use on gold-plated or black-plated silver surfaces); or use mild soap and water and then wipe thoroughly dry.
Avoid: bleach, chlorinated water, and sulfur hot springs; do not use ultrasonic or chemical soaks while porous gemstones are in place.
Brass/alloys
More susceptible to oxidation and discoloration. Avoid water and sweat; wipe daily with a dry cloth.
For more intensive cleaning, use a very dilute neutral detergent with a soft cloth, avoiding the gemstones and gold-plated surfaces, and dry immediately.
Natural gemstones (non-porous gemstones such as quartz, agate, chalcedony, and obsidian)
Generally, clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush; avoid sudden changes in temperature and strong shock.
Do not use ultrasonics on gemstones with fractures or fillings.
Porous or fragile gemstones (pearls, shells, coral, turquoise, malachite, opal, lapis lazuli, etc.)
Wipe gently with only a slightly damp soft cloth. Avoid soap, alcohol, acid/vinegar, essential oils, ultrasonic cleaning, and steam cleaning.
Avoid strong sunlight and excessive drying. Pearls should be kept away from perfume and sweat; wipe clean after each wear.
Glass/Czech beads/Crystal glass
High hardness but prone to chipping from impact; wipe with a slightly damp soft cloth and avoid chemical cleaners and sudden temperature changes.
Leather cord/wax cord/elastic cord
Keep away from water and sweat; avoid excessive stretching.
Elastic cords age over time and should be inspected or replaced every 6–12 months. Do not wear while sleeping or exercising.
Storage and travel
Separate sealed bag + separate compartment in jewelry box to prevent scratches.
Add anti-oxidation tablets/desiccant (silica gel pack); replace regularly when not worn for extended periods.
Use a hard-shell jewelry box for travel; avoid storing jewelry loose in checked luggage during flights.
Recommended cleaning frequency
Daily: Dry wipe with a soft cloth after each wear.
Every 2–4 weeks: Gently clean (more frequently in hot, humid, or coastal areas).
If dull: Mirror-polished pieces can be professionally polished; gold-plated pieces may require re-plating.
Don'ts (Keep in Mind)
Bleach, 84/chlorine-containing cleaners, disinfectant alcohol, perfume/setting spray, sunscreen, essential oils, nail polish remover, skincare products containing mercury and sulfur, seawater/hot springs, high temperatures in saunas, intense exercise and sweating, and ultrasound (for porous/cracked gemstones or plated jewelry).
